Alonzo Gee will continue to pursue his NBA dreams as a member of the San Antonio Spurs summer league team beginning this weekend in Las Vegas. The 2009 NBA Summer League tips off on July 10 and runs through July 19 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavillion on the campus of UNLV.
Gee and the Spurs begin competition on Sunday, July 12 against the New Orleans Hornets summer roster at 2 p.m. CT. Gee is one of 14 players representing the Spurs in the summer league, which is designed for players that have been in the league three or fewer years, newly drafted rookies and usigned players to showcase their talents to NBA franchises.
The forward from Riviera Beach, Fla. wrapped up a stellar four-year career with the Crimson Tide with 15 points and 7.2 rebounds per game en route to earning second team all-SEC honors. He finished his career with 1,630 points and 730 rebounds to become just the 11th player in school history with 1,500 career points and 700 career rebounds.
Gee also participated in the prestigious Portsmith Invitational earlier, averaging 11 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game in the tournament that featured many of the top collegiate players in the nation.
