Kennedy Winston said on Friday night that he has been invited to camp to try out for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. The former University of Alabama forward will travel to Memphis for its three-day camp July 5-7 at FedEx Forum.
The Prichard native says the Grizzlies have invited him to play on its team in the NBA’s Summer Pro-Am League. The Grizzlies are participating in the one held in Long Beach, Calif., July 8-21, opening against the Los Angeles Lakers on July 8. The Grizzlies play a seven-game schedule in that summer league with games against the Lakers, the Mavericks, the Heat and the Raptors. When he reports to Memphis for camp first, the team camp will include two-a-day practice sessions on July 5th and July 6th and one practice on July 7th.
Winston said he has not signed a contract with the Grizzlies. He had two tryouts with Memphis prior to the 2005 NBA draft.
“I’m excited for this opportunity,” Winston said. “Now I’ve got to make the most of this opportunity.”
