|Pearson with Tide Head Coach Mark Gottfried|
TUSCALOOSA – Rivals.com, a recruiting information service which claims “millions” of subscribers through its internet, radio and print media, has named University of Alabama assistant basketball coach Philip Pearson as one of the top 25 college hoops recruiters for 2005.
Pearson, a Montgomery native and former Crimson Tide player, has been an assistant at Alabama since March 25, 1998, the day Mark Gottfried was hired as Alabama’s head coach and introduced Pearson as his first hire on his UA staff.
In its listing of the top 25, which are listed alphabetically and not ranked numerically, Rivals.com says of Pearson, “Pearson has landed some big fish in his day, including Mo Williams and Ron Steele, to name a few. But none bigger than power forward Richard Hendrix who closed out the year as the nation’s No. 9 ranked prospect.”
