TUSCALOOSA - University of Alabama forward Chuck Davis has spent the first part of his summer in the Far East, spending a little more than a week playing basketball with seven other players from the Southeastern Conference on a Christian ministry tour sponsored by Sports Reach.
Playing against club teams in China, Davis and crew are 6-0 on the tour. In his latest game, the 6-foot-7 Selma native scored 31 points and had eight rebounds to lead a 127-107 win against the Quingdong Double Star Eagles. Davis made 15 of 18 shots from the field and was 1 of 4 at the free throw line.
Stats from all games were not available as seven games were scheduled for the tour. Stats from four games have been reported, and in those games Davis scored a total of 104 points for a 26.0 points per four games average. His field goal percentage was .828% as he made 48 of 58 shots from the field. He averaged 8.5 rebounds in those games.
The players are scheduled to return from the trip on Saturday. In addition to playing basketball, the players conducted basketball clinics and shared their ministry. Davis will be a senior on the Alabama basketball team in the fall.
