For the first time ever, the Alabama men's basketball team is the primary focus of the cover of national sports magazine Sports Illustrated this week, highlighting the Tide's upset win over top seed Stanford last Saturday.

The cover features Tide sophomore forward Chuck Davis shooting over the Stanford Cardinal in the Tide's 70-67 victory that propelled Bama into the Sweet 16 for the first time 1991.

The magazine, dated March 29th and scheduled to hit news stands starting today, also features an inset of UAB's Mo Finley after the Blazers defeated top seed Kentucky on Sunday.

Bama basketball has appeared on four other covers for SI, but never as the primary focus of the cover.  Last week's March 22 cover featured a collage of many of the NCAA Tournament teams and included Tide sophomore forward Kennedy Winston.  Big Al was on the March 24, 2003 and Mo Williams was an inset on a regional issue on Nov. 25, 2002.  Bama was also featured along with Maryland, North Carolina State, UCLA and Indiana for a feature on Dec. 2, 1974.
