TUSCALOOSA – On Saturday afternoon Kennedy Winston scored 21 points to lead a University of Alabama win at Mississippi State. On Saturday evening he was announced as one of the 23 student-athletes named to the official voting ballot for the 2005 Wooden Award All-American Team and Player of the Year. The award, perhaps the biggest in men’s collegiate basketball, is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate basketball player. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 9 during a national CBS telecast of the John R. Wooden Award ceremony that will air live at noon CT from the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Winston leads the Crimson Tide, the Southeastern Conference’s Western Division Champions, in scoring. He averages 18.1 points a game after 29 games this season.
