NEW YORK - The Alabama men's basketball team battled throughout the night against No. 6 Duke in the semifinal game of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Madison Square Garden, coming up just short, 74-64.
After leading by as many as seven points in the first half and trailing by as many as 18 early in the second half, the Crimson Tide cut the Blue Devil's lead to as few as five down the stretch, but could get no closer. Junior Nick Jacobs led Alabama with 17 points. Duke freshman Jabari Parker led all scorers with 28 points while Rodney Cooperled the Tide in rebounds with seven.
The Tide returns to action against Drexel Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Madison Square Garden. The game will be televised on ESPNU and the radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
