Head Coach Anthony Grant

Opening statement:

“I felt our defensive effort today was really, really good.  We talked about the need to do a great job on Travis Bader coming into the game.  He was getting 20 points a game and is one of the most dangerous three-point shooters in the country.  I thought our intensity and focus on defending him was really good.  The challenge on the interior to guard Corey Petros, their second leading scorer, was tough but I thought Nick (Jacobs) and Moussa (Gueye) did a terrific job on him.  Overall we had a great effort from all of our guys defensively.  Oakland got the edge on offensive rebounding but otherwise I thought our intensity and focus was really good today.”

On not taking the foot of the gas and stopping their run midway through the second half:

“That’s something that we still need to get better at.  We subbed and when we subbed they were able to turn up the intensity and create some turnovers that cut into our lead.  When we put (Levi) Randolph and (Trevor) Releford back in the game we increased our intensity level.  This was a teachable moment and a learning moment for us. This is what we have to get better at.  We’ve been shooting ourselves in the foot by allowing teams to go on a run.  But I thought our guys responded really well.”

Junior Guard Trevor Releford

On scoring 18 points to lead the team to a win:

“I just took what the defense gave me and tried to go off that, and I thank my teammates for finding me and being able to knock down the shots”

Sophomore guard Levi Randolph

On how he feels about making a majority of his three point shots (3-of-5):

“A lot of those shots came from my teammates making good passes, I wouldn’t have been open without them driving the ball and finding me on the wing.”
