Nov. 21, 2012 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Today's featured players from the 2013 Alabama baseball recruiting class are right-handed pitcher/shortstop Nick Eicholtz from Tampa, Fla., and third baseman Casey Hughston from Mobile, Ala.
Nick Eicholtz Entering his senior season at Cambridge Christian HS, Eicholtz ranks as the 39th best prospect in Florida, the fifth best among right-handed pitchers, while ranking 222nd nationally by Perfect Game USA ... Invited to 2012 Perfect Game National Showcase ... Invited to the 2012 Tournament of Stars/Team USA National Showcase ... Participated in 2012 East Coast Pro National Showcase in Syracuse, New York ... Participated in the 2012 Florida Diamond Club-West Team ... Class 2A first team All-State selection as a junior ... Is a two-time All-District selection ... Helped fifth ranked 2A Cambridge Christian High School to a 22-6 record in 2012 and to the Regional Championship game ... Posted a 6-2 record with a 0.34 ERA, and held opponents to a .111 batting average with 67 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched in 2012 ... also hit .333 with four home runs and 35 RBI as a junior ... Casey Hughston Is coming off a 2012 season that saw the junior earn honorable mention all-state honors by the Alabama Sports Writers Association ... Was also selected to play in the Alabama North-South All-Star Game ... Was a member of the Columbia Blue squad for the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Event in 2012 ... Finished his junior season at Baker HS with a .391 average with four home runs, 29 RBI and 16 doubles ... As a sophomore had a .365 average with nine home runs, 39 RBI and 10 doubles ...
