TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Today's featured players from the 2013 Alabama baseball recruiting class are left-handed pitcher/first baseman Thomas Burrows from Florence, Ala., and shortstop Taylor Propst from Huntsville, Ala.
Thomas Burrows Ranked 12th in the state of Alabama and 468th in the nation by Perfect Game USA ... Ranks as the state's no. 2 left handed pitcher and is 46th nationally ... Following his junior season at Mars Hill Bible School, he was a Class 2A first team all-state selection as a first baseman by the Alabama Sports Writers Association for the second straight season ... Was named the Class 2A Hitter and Player of the Year by the ASWA in 2012 ... Helped MHHS earn its fourth state championship when he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament in 2012 ... As a junior, he led the team in hitting with a .484 average, nine home runs, 27 doubles and 77 RBIs ... On the mound in 2012, he posted a 9-1 record with two saves, a 0.88 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched and had one perfect game ... Was also part of the MHBS that won the state title in 2010 ... Holds the school record for RBI in a single season and is the school's all-time leader with 28 career home runs. Taylor Propst Earned underclass high honorable mention honors by Perfect Game USA in 2012 ... Is ranked as the 14th best prospect in the state of Alabama, and the top shortstop prospect in the state by Perfect Game USA ... As a junior, he hit .359 with 26 runs, 35 RBIs, seven doubles and five home runs ... Was named to the Huntsville Times All-Area first team and was selected as the All-City Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 ... Was a starter on Huntsville High School's 2011 Class 6A state championship team as a sophomore.
