TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team added junior college infielder Jared Reaves to its list of signees on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard.

Reaves, a sophomore infielder at Southern Union Community College in Wadley, Ala., is the 11th player to sign with the Crimson Tide during the Nov. 11-18 early signing period.  He is an excellent hitter and solid defender and is the lone junior college player to ink with the Tide during this signing period. His junior college coach is Jabo Jordan.

Last year as a freshman, he hit .422 (100-for-237) with 10 home runs and 66 RBI in 59 games. He scored 70 runs and added 18 doubles and one triple. An excellent contact hitter, Reaves struck out only four times last season in 237 at-bats, or once every 59.25 at-bats.

He led all state junior college players in at-bats (217), hits (100) and hits per game (1.7) and ranked second in at-bats per game (4.02) and assists (149).  He ranked among the state’s top-10 players in 15 offensive categories and paced a club that led the state in hitting (.358), total hits (682) and hits per game (11.6).  He recorded 31 multi-hit games and 21 multi-RBI games.

Reaves went 5-for-6 with two runs scored and five RBI in a 24-11 win over Jefferson Davis on April 5.  He recorded four-hit games against Andrew College (Feb. 10), Darton College (Feb. 19), Gadsden State (April 21), Alabama Southern (April 24) and Jeff State (May 12), and added two multi-home run games against Darton College (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI) on Feb. 19 and Wallace State-Selma (3-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI) on April 18.
