Baseball 2012 Recruiting Class Ranked 24th by Baseball America

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2012 recruiting class for the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team was ranked No. 24 in the nation by Baseball America. The 16-player class, made up of eight pitchers and eight position players, include 11 freshmen and five junior college transfers.
Of the eight pitchers, Ian Gardeck, Justin Kamplain and Taylor Guilbeau come to Tuscaloosa after all three were selected in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Gardeck is one of five junior college transfers, while Kamplain and Guilbeau are two of the 11 incoming freshmen. Additional freshmen that will make an impact on the mound are Jake Hubbard, Jon Keller and Spencer Turnbull.
On the position player side, key additions include junior college transfers Kenny Roberts and Cameron Carlisle, while freshmen AJ Cole and Ben Moore have been impressive additions during the fall practice schedule.
The Tide continues fall practices this week with scrimmages on Thursday and Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m., at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The fall schedule comes to a close with the final Alabama Crimson and Grey Game on Friday, Nov. 4, at “The Joe.”
