Baseball has 16 Players Competing in Summer Leagues in 2013

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - With the end of the 2013 baseball campaign, the Alabama Crimson Tide sends 16 players to play in leagues during the summer. Seven players are participating in the Cape Cod League, four in the Northwoods League, two in the each of the Florida Collegiate League and Texas Collegiate League and one in the New England Collegiate League.

The Tide’s group of summer league players includes 11 players from this year’s freshman class, and is rounded out with five players from the sophomore class. The 16 first and second-year players for 2013 are a balanced bunch, as eight of the players are everyday position players, and the other half are a part of Alabama’s pitching staff.

Action is currently ongoing in collegiate summer league baseball, after the Cape Cod League, started their summer schedule on Wednesday, June 12.
