Castillo converted 12-of-15 save opportunities in 2013 to set the Alabama freshman single season record for saves with 12. He tied for the third most saves in a single season at the Capstone, and the 12 saves rank ninth in the Alabama career record books.

Castillo’s longest outings of the season came when he threw 4.1 innings against Tulane (March 3) and at Mississippi (April 14).
