TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With the 508th overall selection in the 2012 MLB First Year Player Draft, junior right-handed relief pitcher Ian Gardeck (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 16th round on Wednesday.

In his first season at Alabama, Gardeck posted a 1-2 record with a 5.84 ERA and one save in 2012. Gardeck appeared in 13 games and recorded 16 strikeouts in 12.1 innings out of the bullpen. During SEC play, Gardeck made four appearances with 2.1 innings pitched for a 0-1 record.
