TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Freshman designated hitter Chance Vincent was named for the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday for his play in the three-game series against No. 1 Vanderbilt. As the starting designated hitting in all three games, Vincent led the team with a .545 average, going 6-for-11 in the series.

Vincent had two hits in all three games to extend his hitting streak to five games, and he also led the team with five RBI. He also scored three runs, scoring once in each game, had a double and hit his first career triple in the series to post an .818 slugging percentage. Additionally, he walked once and was hit by a pitch twice for a .643 on-base percentage.

His first career triple came with the bases loaded in the seventh inning of game three. In game two, he doubled and scored in the seventh, and was hit by pitch in the 10th to help the Tide defeat top-ranked Vanderbilt, 5-4 in 10 innings.

Vincent becomes the third Crimson Tide player to earn the SEC Freshman of the Week award this season. Mikey White was named the freshman of the week on Feb. 18, and Georgie Salem was the freshman of the week on March 18.

LSU’s Raph Rhymes was named the SEC Player of the Week and Auburn’s Conner Kendrick was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week.

Alabama will take on the Auburn Tigers in the first round of the SEC Baseball Tournament on Tuesday. The single-elimination game between the Crimson Tide and Tigers will be the second game of the day, and will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Mississippi versus Kentucky game that will start at 9:30 p.m. CST, at the Hoover Met.
