TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After sweeping a three-game series against Mississippi Valley State, the Alabama Crimson Tide (9-5, 0-0 SEC) will host the Samford Bulldogs (11-4, 0-0 SoCon) on Tuesday night. First pitch for the midweek game will be at 6:05 p.m. CT from Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Alabama is coming off a series sweep of MVSU, where the Tide posted victories of 8-0, 7-0 and 3-0. Samford, which has won nine straight games, is coming off a home series sweep of Louisiana-Monroe, defeating the Warhawks 9-3, 9-6 and 6-5 (10 innings), this past weekend.
The Tide began a season-long nine-game homestad last week with three games against MVSU. The Tide is 3-0 on the homestand and is currently 7-2 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium this season. Alabama has won its last five games and is 7-3 in its last 10 games.

In a series that dates back to the 1894 season, Tuesday’s game between Alabama and Samford will mark the 107th meeting all-time. Alabama holds a 91-15 advantage in the all-time series after winning both games played between the two teams in 2013. Alabama has won the last five games in the series and the Tide is 8-2 in the last 10 games played between the two schools. In the last meeting as Sewell-Thomas Stadium, Alabama posted a 5-4 win over the Bulldogs on Feb. 26, 2013. In the most recent meeting, the Tide posted a 15-7 victory over the Bulldogs when they played at Joe Lee Griffin Field on March 19, 2013.
On Deck for the Tide
After hosting Samford, the Tide welcomes No. 22 Kentucky to Sewell-Thomas Stadium this weekend to open Southeastern Conference play. The series between Alabama and Kentucky begins on Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. Game two will be Saturday at 6 p.m. CT, and the finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. In a series that dates back to the 1925 season, this weekend’s series will mark games 93-95 of the all-time series. Alabama holds a 56-36 advantage in the series. In the last series, the Wildcats swept all three games when the teams met in Lexington, Ky., during the 2012 campaign.
