TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Heavy snow fall and cold, blustery conditions have forced the cancellation of the series finale between Alabama and UIC on Sunday in Tuscaloosa.
The two teams were scheduled to play a four-game series this weekend, but weather forced the cancellation of two games. The series opener was cancelled due to rain and severe weather on Friday, while winter weather cancelled Sunday's finale.
Alabama had a big offensive day on Saturday, sweeping a double-header from UIC. The Tide won the opener 4-2 and cruised to a 20-4 win in the nightcap.
The Crimson Tide will look to add games to the 2009 schedule to make up for the two cancelled games this weekend. Fans should hold on to the tickets for "Game 6" and "Game 8" for later make-up games, which will be announced at a later date.
Alabama will return to action on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. when the Crimson Tide travels to face the Troy Trojans in Troy. The Tide will play in the Whataburger College Classic next weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas.
