Ross Wilson Named Preseason All-American

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama junior second baseman Ross Wilson picked up another preseason All-American honor on Monday when he was named to the 2010 Rivals.com preseason All-American team. Wilson is one of five Southeastern Conference players on Kendall Rogers' 15-man preseason All-American squad. He was also named first-team preseason All-American by Baseball America and was on the 2010 SEBaseball.com preseason All-SEC team. He was also named second-team preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. "Ross is an outstanding player and deserves the preseason recognition he has received," Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard said. "To be named to Rivals.com 15-man All-American team speaks volumes for the type of player he is. We are excited for him and this opportunity." Wilson has posted a .321 (152-for-473) average with 24 home runs and 94 RBI during his two-year career with the Crimson Tide. In SEC play, he is a .305 (71-for-223) career hitter with 12 home runs and 47 RBI in 57 games. As a sophomore, Wilson hit .353 (76-for-215) with nine home runs and 47 RBI en route to being named first-team All-SEC by the league's head coaches. As a freshman, he hit .295 (76-for-258) with 15 home runs and 47 RBI en route to being named Freshman All-SEC by the league's coaches. He tied the UA freshman home run mark with 15 in 2008.
