TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With the first week of practices in the books, the Alabama baseball team continues their preparations for the 2012 campaign. This weekend, the Crimson Tide will have three intrasquads and an autograph signing prior to the start of the men’s basketball game on Saturday.
After taking Wednesday afternoon off because of the rainy weather in Tuscaloosa, the Tide returns to Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. practice. Friday will mark the first of three intrasquad games this weekend, with first pitch scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m.
Pending weather, Saturday begins with practice at 11 a.m., followed by a nine-inning intrasquad game starting around noon. Following the game, members of the student fan organization, the Crimson Chaos, will take batting practice on the field from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. To join Crimson Chaos go to MyBama.ua.edu and click on the Campus Life to sign up. From there, the baseball team will head over to Coleman Coliseum where they will sign autographs from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., and be introduced at the game. During halftime of the men’s basketball game, head coach Mitch Gaspard will join Chris Stewart on the radio broadcast for a halftime interview to talk about the 2012 squad.
The Tide wraps up the week with its third intrasquad of the weekend on Sunday. Alabama will take the field at 1 p.m., before starting the seven to eight-inning scrimmage around 2 p.m. All practices are open to the public and are free admission.
