TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama baseball team will hold its annual Fan Day on Saturday, Feb. 5. The event will consist of a kid's clinic, the annual Grand Slammers preseason barbecue and a team scrimmage. The kid's clinic will be held at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility, the Grand Slammer barbeque will be at The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium and team scrimmage will be held at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

"The Alabama Baseball Fan Day is the highlight of the preseason and is the signal that the college baseball season is just around the corner," second-year head coach Mitch Gaspard said. "This is a great day for the players, coaches and fans to get together and share in the Alabama baseball experience. The Grand Slammers barbecue is a long-standing tradition and something that we really look forward to. We certainly appreciate all the support we get from our fans and especially the Grand Slammers."

The day begins with a free kid's clinic at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility from 9-11 a.m. The clinic is open to children five years old through the sixth grade. The clinic will include hitting, pitching, fielding and base running instruction from the Crimson Tide coaching staff and players.

The 28th annual Grand Slammers preseason barbecue will be held at The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under). Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Coach Gaspard will give a scouting report on the 2011 team and the Crimson Tide players will be available for autographs. There will also be door prizes, schedule cards and schedule posters, as well as Alabama Grand Slammers merchandise for sale.

The Alabama Grand Slammers are now accepting 2011 membership renewals and membership applications. A membership is $100, which includes two complimentary tickets to the barbecue and other items. Following the barbecue, the Alabama baseball team will hold a nine-inning scrimmage at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The scrimmage is tentatively set for 2 p.m. and is free to the public.
