A 2006 graduate of Hillcrest High School, where he played for Coach Todd Agee ... he was the school's all-time leader in hits (95) and runs scored (85) upon graduation ... also set single-season marks for hits (62) and runs scored (54) ... led team to quarterfinals of the Class 6A state playoffs in 2006 ... also played American Legion baseball for Post 34 ... helped team win the 2007 American Legion State Championship ... named most valuable player for his efforts in the tournament ... also helped Post 34 capture the 2006 BP Invitational (Anchorage, Alaska) and 2007 Big Fish Classic (Kenai, Alaska).
Full name is Joseph Calvin Tinlsey ... son of Joe and Donna Tinsley ... one younger brother, Will ... his grandfather, Cal Hannah, was the chief photographer and photo editor for The Tuscaloosa News and produced many award winning photos during his long career with the newspaper.
