58 Student-Athletes Receive Degrees in Spring Graduation
SENIOR (2015) Closed out his career with the Crimson Tide owning a 3.60 ERA (52 ER/130.0 IP) while collecting 79 strikeouts and limiting opposing hitters to a .244 average against … in his final season at Alabama, he finished with a perfect 2-0 record and owned a 4.22 ERA (15 ER/32.0 IP) … notched a career-high 28 strikeouts while holding the opposition to a .237 average against … tossed 12.1 innings of work across his final three outings of the regular season after throwing 17.1 in his first 14 appearances. Maryland Eastern Shore (2/15): Came out of the bullpen for his first stint of the season, tossing 1.0 inning and striking out one in the Tide’s 19-0 shutout win to complete the series of three shutout victories on opening weekend. Alabama A&M (5/5): Earned his first win, tossing a then-season high 4.2 innings of relief work in game one against the Bulldogs … allowed three hits and one walk while striking out five. Auburn (5/9): Earned his second win of the season with 1.0 inning of work … allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks, but struck out two as well … the Tide would finish off the Tigers and halt any comeback efforts, claiming the 7-6 win by day’s end. Vanderbilt (5/15): Tossed a 6.2 innings of work – the longest outing of his career- and allowed just one run on five hits while striking out a career-high six Commodores … used 97 pitches, also a career-high, to hold Vandy at bay and give the Crimson Tide a chance for a late-inning comeback. Missouri (5/21): Helped the Crimson Tide advance to the quarterfinals of the 2015 SEC Tournament with his 1-2-3 eighth inning … Alabama would use a scoreless ninth as well to maintain the 4-3 lead over the Tigers for the win.
JUNIOR (2014) Totaled 41.1 innings spanning 22 relief appearances and one start in 2014. Louisiana-Lafayette (2/28): Struck out one in a perfect inning against the Ragin' Cajuns. Mississippi Valley State (3/8): Had a strikeout during a hitless eighth inning to help complete Alabama's first combined no-hitter since 1942 in the second game of the three-game series with the Delta Devils. Arkansas (3/21): Earned the win in relief at Arkansas, holding the Razorbacks to two hits and a walk with a strikeout in 4.0 IP. Tennessee (4/19): Picked up his second win of the season after allowing one hit and a walk in 2.1 scoreless IP in Knoxville. NCAA Regional: Combined for 7.1 IP in a relief appearance (May 30) and a start against Kennesaw State in Tallahassee.
SOPHOMORE (2013) Finished his sophomore campaign with a 2-1 record and one save ... compiled a 1.61 ERA (5 ER/28.0 IP) with a .215 opponent average ... made 15 appearances, all in relief ... yielded only five runs all season, allowing two runs over his last 20.1 innings of work for a 0.88 ERA over that stretch ... only Crimson Tide pitcher to make multiple appearances in the SEC Tournament, shutting out the opponents in 5.1 IP. Tulane (3/2): Threw 3.2 scoreless IP against Tulane in his first action of the season. UAB (4/16): Retired the final five batters, one via strikeout, to notch his first career save in 7-4 win over the Blazers. Troy (5/8): Shut out the 25th-ranked Trojans for 3.0 innings, allowing two hits with one strikeout. Vanderbilt (5/17): Blanked the top-ranked Commodores for one inning to earn his first win of the season. Auburn (5/21): Seized the moment with the best game of his career in a postseason elimination game against the Tigers, allowing four hits and a walk in a career-high 5.0 scoreless innings.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2012) In 18 appearances, finished the season with a 4.95 ERA (11 ER/20.0 IP), going 1-1 over 18 relief appearances ... allowed only three extra-base hits all season ... held opponents to a .190 batting average during SEC play ... logged 10 appearances in conference action with 12.1 total innings. Florida Atlantic (2/19): Returned to the field for the first time since having Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in March of 2011 ... retired two batters in that return against the Owls, allowing one run on two hits. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2/26): Made his second appearance of the season, throwing a shutout frame with one strikeout. Arkansas (3/18): In his longest appearance of the season, threw 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts. Georgia (5/19): Picked up his first win against the Dogs when he pitched 1.2 innings, allowing only one walk after facing six batters.
FRESHMAN (2011) Showed early promise but had season-ending reconstructive surgery on his elbow in March. Alcorn State (2/20): Made his Crimson Tide debut, going 1.0 IP and recording one punchout. Eastern Illinois (3/11): Earned his first win after striking out the only batter he faced in the ninth inning of the series opener. Eastern Illinois (3/12): Made two appearances in the series, throwing the final 2.0 innings in game two, allowing no runs on two hits with three strikeouts vs. the Panthers. UAB (3/22): Went 2.0 IP against the Blazers, allowing one earned run on three hits with one strikeout.
