Giving Opportunities

Scholarships
UA Athletics is committed to offering the full number of scholarships authorized by the NCAA to our more than 650 student-athletes. Each year, however, mounting tuition and housing costs place greater pressures on the Athletic Department. UA Athletics currently funds approximately $13 million annually for student-athlete scholarships in 19 varsity sports. However, the cost of tuition continues to rise dramatically. Keeping pace with the increasing scholarship cost is critical to remaining competitive on a national level. In such a climate, private giving in the area of scholarship support is one of our highest priorities.

Donors interested in supporting UA athletic scholarships may do so in three ways: 1) Giving to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (formerly called "A+"); 2) Giving to an existing scholarship endowment; and 3) Establishing a new scholarship endowment.

Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund
The Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund provides UA Athletics with annual scholarship support. UA Athletics currently funds approximately $13 million annually for student-athlete scholarships in 19 varsity sports generated primarily from revenue associated with ticket sales, sales of licensed merchandise, television contracts, and other event-driven revenue. Private funding of scholarships is necessary to provide our student-athletes with the best opportunities for learning and personal growth at the University of Alabama. For every dollar contributed to this fund, UA Athletics is able to direct revenue to other priority areas of need for the Department to maximize our competitive advantage with rivals both on and off the playing field.

Your contributions either to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund can help provide a student-athlete a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a member of the Crimson Tide.

Existing Endowments
The Crimson Tide Foundation is the proud steward of many existing scholarship endowments that support student-athletes participating in a variety of varsity sports at the University of Alabama. Listed below, by support designation, are our existing scholarship endowments.

Every scholarship has a story. We celebrate the generosity of all of our donors and the stories that inspired them to establish an endowment through the Crimson Tide Foundation. You are encouraged to click on the scholarships below and learn about each one. If one inspires you to make a gift, please consider making a contribution to that endowment within UA Athletics.

Establishing a Scholarship Endowment
An endowment represents money given to the Crimson Tide Foundation with a stipulation that the funds are to be retained and invested to generate annual earnings. A portion of the annual earnings is used to award student-athlete scholarships at the University of Alabama. Endowments can be established with cash gifts, securities or other property, or may be funded with a series of gifts made over time. They may also be funded through a bequest or other deferred gift, or through a combination of lifetime and deferred gifts.

A spending allocation will be awarded once the endowment reaches the minimum required funding level and after the funds have been invested for a required period of time to generate sufficient earnings. Because the principal of the endowment is never spent, such a gift represents an enduring tribute to the person honored by the fund.

Athletic scholarship endowments are established through a minimum gift of $25,000; however, endowments of $300,000 or more represent full tuition scholarships. For more information about establishing a scholarship endowment to support UA student-athletes, please contact the Crimson Tide Foundation at (205) 348-9727.

Facilities
UA Athletics is committed to providing first-class facilities for all of our 19 varsity sports. In an era where every college and university is striving to recruit elite student-athletes and coaches to provide the most competitive programs in the country, facilities have become an even more important component of winning; and for our fans, provides them with an unmatched gameday experience that all can enjoy. Integral to attracting and retaining top-tier talent is our built environment - from playing and practice facilities to the space that surrounds them.

Throughout the last decade, the athletic facility improvements on campus have been substantial, as evidenced by the recent expansion of Bryant-Denny Stadium, new men's and women's tennis stadium, softball stadium, women's soccer stadium, Jerry Pate Golf Center, Coleman Coliseum renovations, and more.

Future facilities priorities will include the complete renovation of Foster Auditorium, a new rowing boathouse, indoor tennis facility, and baseball stadium improvements. Private funding will be critical for the success of each of these projects.
