Batson Earns SEC Athlete of the Week Honor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After running a 2013 world-leading 10.06 seconds in the 100 meters last Saturday, Alabama junior sprinter Diondre Batson has been named the Southeastern Conference Track & Field Men's Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Ran the fastest 100-meter dash time in the world so far this season with a 10.06 on Saturday at the Spec Towns Invitational at the University of Georgia. His 10.06 time was wind legal at +1.9 and eclipsed his personal best of 10.10. The performance ranks third in Alabama history in the 100m, just behind the school record of 9.93 set by Calvin Smith in 1983 and a 10.04 clocked by Emmit King in 1983.
