TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The University of Alabama track and field team will send five student-athletes to compete at the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., this Friday-Saturday, March 8-9.
The Crimson Tide will be represented by senior Alexis Paine in the women's pole vault, senior Krystle Schade in the women's high jump, junior Kamal Fuller in the men's long jump, sophomore Diondre Batson in the men's 200 meters and junior Jonathan Reid in the men's triple jump.
Schade and Batson rank among the top 10 in the nation in their respective events. Schade's 2013 seasonal best high jump clearance of 6 feet, 2 inches ranks tied for the fifth-best mark nationally this season. Batson's seasonal best time of 20.81 in the 200 meters ranks tied for the ninth-best time in the nation overall.
Schade will compete in the high jump starting on Friday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. Central Time. Batson competes in the semifinals of the 200 meters on Friday evening at 7:45 p.m. CT. The final of the 200 is slated for 8:40 p.m. CT on Friday.
Fuller is a returning all-American in the long jump after a 14th-place finish in 2012. His 2013 seasonal best of 25 feet, 8 3/4 inches (7.84 meters) is the seventh-best in the nation this year. Reid's triple jump best of 52-3 1/4 (15.93m) tied for the 14th-best in the NCAA field this season.
Fuller competes in the long jump starting at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday. Reid will vie for the triple jump title on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. CT. Paine will compete for honors in the pole vault starting at 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
