Kaylon Eppinger, a senior on the University of Alabama women's track and field team, finished second in the pentathlon on Friday at the Razorback Invitational.
Eppinger finished the five-discipline event with a score of 3,834, one point shy of her career best in the event and the ninth best score recorded in the nation this season. Arkansas' Makeba Alcide won the competition with 3,997 points.
Eppinger opened by finishing first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.67, taking third in the high jump at 5-5.75 and fourth in the shot put with a throw of 36-2.25. In the final two events, she was second in the long jump at 18-4.25 and seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.38.
She was the only UA track and field athlete in action this weekend as the rest of the team, following meets in back-to-back weeks to open the season, got a weekend off to prepare for next week's New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y.
