COLUMBIA, Mo. - After a two-hour delay to the start of the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships due to inclement weather, day one got underway at the University of Missouri's Audrey J. Walton Stadium.

Throws Coach Doug Reynolds
On Elias Hakansson's third place finish today in the hammer throw:
"We talk all the time about wanting to finish exactly where we came in or move up and that we never want to move down. We came in and finished exactly what we were slated to get points-wise. We improved with the season bests and the lifetime bests, so as long as we are doing that we can't complain and it's a great, positive momentum to move forward through the meet."
On the future of the freshman Hakansson after today's performance:
"He has a bright future - I don't want to make any kind of predictions, but he has a bright future. Charodd Richardson is a young sophomore as well and we have some other freshmen coming in. Our goal is to try and take on the SEC and to take it on by storm with multiple athletes in the final. I guess we are trying to get where Florida was today. We have the possibility of doing that. We have young guys that are really making strides forward. We are never going to rest - we're going to keep going for more. Until we score all eight places in the finals, we aren't done."
