ATLANTA, Ga. - Alexis Paineshattered the school record in the women's pole vault as the University of Alabama track and field team won eight events overall, including five individual events and three relays, on Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.

Making her 2013 outdoor debut, Paine raised the Crimson Tide's standard in the event by 10 inches on Saturday by clearing 14 feet, 7 ¼ inches (4.45 meters) to abolish her previous school record of 13-9 ¼ set in 2012. Paine's performance highlighted a strong day by both the men's and women's teams as the Tide took three of four relay events contested in addition to the individual event victories.

"We had a good day today and Alexis's performance was the highlight," said head coach Dan Waters. "She is really hitting her stride in the pole vault and really competing with great confidence. Overall, I am really pleased. We came out today and competed across the board. We had some very good performances.
