Swimming and Diving Signs Marissa Dressel of Buffalo, N.Y. to a National Letter of Intent

TUSCALOOSA, Ala - The University of Alabama Swimming and Diving team has signed Marissa Dressel (Buffalo, N.Y.) to a National Letter of Intent head coach Eric McIlquham announced this week.

"Marissa is a very versatile swimmer who will be able to help us in several different events," McIlquham said. "She'll also be a big boost for us in the relay events."

An All-American, Dressel swims for Carrie Meetze at Kenmore West High School and Scott Vanderzell and Mike Syzprowski at the Town of Tonawanda Titans Swim Club. She is the 2008 New York state champion in the 100 and 200 freestyles and the 2009 champion in the 100 freestyle and as part of the 400 freestyle relay. She holds the state public high school records in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.

Dressel is also a five year USA Junior National participant and a USA Senior National Qualifier. A member of the National Honor Society and the student council, she is the daughter of Mary and Alan Dressel.
