Anton McKee Named SEC Swimming and Diving Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama's Anton McKee was named the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Freshman of the Week after a strong showing at Florida last week the league office announced Tuesday.

McKee, who is ranked third in the nation in the 200 breaststroke, beat the Gator's Matt Elloitt, who is ranked second nationally, and Ed Solaeche-Gomez, who is ranked fifth. McKee also took second in the 100 breaststroke with a 55.04, just behind Solaeche-Gomez and ahead of Elliott. All three men are ranked in the top-10 nationally, with McKee checking in at No. 6.

Just three meets into his Alabama career, McKee is already ranked fourth in the 200 breaststroke and eighth in the 100 all-time for the Tide.

McKee and his Tide teammates return to action Nov. 22-24 at the Auburn Invitational.
