TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The Alabama swimming and diving teams head to Baton Rouge, La., this Friday where they will take on Southeastern Conference rival LSU at 1:30 p.m. CT in the LSU Natatorium.
This will be the Crimson Tide men's (1-1, 0-1 SEC) third meet of the season while the Alabama women (2-1, 1-1 SEC) will compete in their fourth meet. The Tiger men are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the SEC while the LSU women are 4-1, 1-1 in the SEC.
The Tide women continue to be led by 2012 Olympian and All-American Kristel Vourna, who will seek to keep her undefeated streak in the 100 and 200 butterfly alive, and senior Jenna Gallo, who is ranked in the top-25 nationally in the mile.
Alabama's men will look to junior All-American freestyler BJ Hornikel as well as freshman Brett Walsh who is ranked in the top-20 nationally in the 50 freestyle and Brian Westlake and senior John Ellis who are ranked fifth and 12th, respectively in the 1650 freestyle.
One of the key matchups in the women's meet will likely come in the butterfly events where Vourna could square off against LSU's Rainey White and Amber Carter in the 100 butterfly and the Tiger's Sara Haley and Audrey Lawson in the 200 butterfly.
For the men, Hornikel and Walsh could see tough completion in the sprint freestyle events from the LSU duo of Andrei Tuomola and Michael Saco while senior Anestis Arampatzis could tangle with the Tiger's Frank Greeff in the butterfly events.
