IRVINE, Calif. - Mark Randall, who finished his University of Alabama swimming career last spring, grabbed a top-15 finish on day one of the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships being held in Irvine, Calif., this week.
Randall, representing his native South Africa at the Pan Pac Championships, took 11th in the 1500-meter freestyle, touching the wall at 15:18.95, just two seconds out of 10th.
The Alabama school record holder in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles, Randall is slated to compete in the 400m and 800m freestyles later in the week. He finished off his Crimson Tide career with a runner-up finish in the mile at the Southeastern Conference Championships and an All-America performance at the NCAA Championships where he took eighth place.
Randall, who earned his undergraduate degree in August, earned the Tide's Mike Curington Most Valuable and Marshall Shoemaker Most Dedicated awards as a senior.
