INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Alabama sophomore diver Aaron Fleshner is in fifth place in the three-meter diving competition after the preliminary round here at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials being held at the Indiana University Natatorium on the IUPUI campus this week.

Fleshner, the defending Southeastern Conference three-meter champion, scored 423.55 points to finish in the top third of the elite 15-man field.

Two-time Olympian Troy Dumais heads into Friday night's men's 3-meter semifinals in first place after totaling 502.75 points while Chris Colwill sits in second place at 477.50. 2004 Olympian Justin Wilcock is in third at 449.15 and Jevon Tarantino is in fourth with 426.50 points. Fleshner, a native of Spring, Texas, sits three points ahead of two-time Olympian Mark Ruiz's 420.80.

The semifinals are set for 7 p.m. Friday. Scores from the preliminaries will carry over.

Only the winner of each event will be nominated to the U.S. Olympic Team. The second individual will be decided at a team selection camp in Knoxville, Tenn., from July 2-6. The top six finishers at the Trials will be invited to the camp.

The Trials run through June 22. Friday's evening session also features women's 10-meter semifinals. Finals for men's and women's 3-meter are Saturday, and men's and women's platform finals are Sunday.
