After breaking a pair of school and pool records in the last home meet of her career, Alabama senior Paige McCleary was named the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.
McCleary made every dive count, breaking both the school and Alabama Aquatic Center records off the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards last Saturday. The Lake Worth, Fla., native scored 325.88 on the 1-meter board to break the previous school and AQC record of 325.55 that had been held by Alabama All-American and NCAA Champion Lane Bassham since 2004.
After slipping by the 1-meter records, McCleary crushed the 3-meter marks, scoring 377.70 points. She bettered the previous school record of 366.50 set by All-American Carrie Dragland in 2009 and the Alabama Aquatic Center record of 344.05 set by Tennessee's Lauren LeRoy in 2008.
McCleary and her teammates close out the 2013-14 regular season this Saturday in Athens, Ga., site of the 2014 SEC Championships, as the face off against Georgia in Gabrielsen Natatorium starting at 11 a.m. ET.
