Diver Paige McCleary Wins 1-Meter Title on Day One of Alabama Diving Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Crimson Tide senior Paige McCleary opened the Alabama Diving Invitational with a win off the 1-meter board Monday night.

McCleary scored 304.20 points in finals, a dozen points ahead of the rest of the field. She scored 295.85 points in preliminaries to take first in that round as well. Freshman Dakota Toner took fourth with 241.95 points in finals while fellow rookie Taylor Zablocki was fifth with 230.15 points.

On the men's side of the meet, freshman Brent Sagert took fourth place off the 3-meter board with 335.05 points while John Santeiu of Auburn won the event after totaling 391.45 points. The Tide's Jake Carloni was sixth with 321.80 points.

The meet continues Tuesday with prelims getting underway at 11:30 a.m. and finals starting at 6:30 p.m. The men will compete off the 1-meter board while the women will go off the 3-meter board.
