Alabama's new look starts at the top, with first-year head coach Dennis Pursley and extends through a staff that includes five new assistant coaches to go with two returners from a year ago
David Pursley is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Crimson Tide.
One of the nation's top young coaches, Pursley was part of the Crimson Tide staff that coached Alabama to 21 new school records last season, including eight of 10 relay marks. As part of his work with the breaststroke and individual medley lanes, he coached three of Alabama's five individual NCAA Championship qualifiers during the 2014 season. The swimmers in his training group achieved 100 percent personal best times.
He also coached 2014 freshman Anton McKee to the Southeastern Conference record in the 200 breaststroke on the way to Alabama's first individual SEC swimming title since 2007. McKee also holds both 100 and 200 breaststroke school record and was an All-American and NCAA Championship finalist as a rookie.
Pursley came to Alabama after coaching with the North Carolina Aquatic Club in Chapel Hill, N.C., which followed a year with the FISH swim club in McLean, Va. He has swum for or coached under six different Olympic coaches during his career and was a member of the University of Arizona's 2008 NCAA Championship squad.
