1963 Orange Bowl Victory
Alabama met Oklahoma in the 1963 Orange Bowl in Miami on January 1, 1963 at the conclusion of the 1962 season. With President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in attendance, the Crimson Tide led by Joe Namath and Lee Roy Jordan shutout the Sooners 170. Namath threw a TD pass while Jordan recorded an Alabama bowl record of 31 tackles in the victory as the Tide finished 10-1 and #5 in the nation.
