The Hurricane Bowl 1988
With Hurricane Gilbert threatening the southeast Texas border in September of 1988 Alabama head coach Bill Curry made a decision to postpone the Texas A&M game in College Station, Texas to not put his players, staff, and fans in jeopardy, so the game was re-scheduled for an after the season December 1st match-up. With Alabama linebacker Derrick Thomas completely dominating the Aggies offensive attack, Bama blistered A&M 30-10 and made the Aggie fans eat their “Chicken Curry” cheers.
