Alabama Gymnastics Uses a Season-Best Score to Win at Auburn, 197.300-195.400

The Crimson Tide closed out a season-best balance beam rotation with three-consecutive 9.9 routines
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team started strong and finished strong against the No. 16 Auburn Tigers Friday night in Auburn Arena, leading to a season-best 197.300 and a win over the Tigers, who scored a 195.400.
"The ladies just never lost their grit, their fight, their focus," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "There were certain things that weren't perfect, but our ladies continued to fight. There were so many highs in what we did tonight, but what I love is that they continued to trust themselves. It was one thing after another and they continued to believe in themselves and do it for their sisters."
The Crimson Tide opened with a 49.400 on the uneven bars, tying its second-highest score of the season and earning its highest road mark this year. The Tide followed that with a solid scores on the vault and floor exercise, going 49.275 and 49.225, respectively, both of which were season-best road marks. The Tide then used a season-best 49.400 on the balance beam, closing the rotation and the meet with three-straight scores of 9.900.
Kiana Winston won the uneven bars with a 9.925, while fellow senior Nickie Guerrero won the vault with a 9.95. Winston and Guerrero then tied for first place on the floor exercise with matching 9.925s. The senior duo, along with freshman Lexi Graber, scored consecutive 9.9s to share the win on the balance beam.
Alabama now returns home to face North Carolina on Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. It will be the Tide's first non-conference meet since the opening week of the season and UA's first non-SEC meet in Coleman Coliseum this season.
