With the school year underway, Alabama's Women's Tennis Q&A's will be conducted throughout the fall to introduce and catch up with players on the team. The first player introduced is Kylie Moulin, a freshman from Lithia, Florida.
What inspired you to play tennis?
I started playing tennis kind of by chance. I had just quit gymnastics and my mom and I were driving through my neighborhood after and I saw tennis courts, and asked her if I could play tennis. She said yes and the rest is history.
Why did you choose to play collegiate tennis?
I chose to play college tennis because I love the game and knew it was the next step for me in my tennis career.
Why did you decide to come and compete for The University of Alabama?
I chose to come play for the University of Alabama because when I first stepped on campus I knew that I belonged here. I also really connected well with the girls and the coaches and I knew that they would be like my second family.
What do you like most about the University of Alabama?
I really like the atmosphere and school spirit the most. Being an athlete here you feel like you are a part of tremendous history and something bigger than just yourself.
Do you prefer playing singles or doubles? Why?
I really like playing both for different reasons. In singles it is just yourself, one on one, and you have to construct points and really use your brain out there. In doubles it is so fast and aggressive. Both are a lot of fun though.
What are some of your personal and team goals for this upcoming season?
My personal goals are to become better at tennis and hopefully become a great teammate that can pump the team up when they need it most. The goals I have for the team are for all of us to get better, try as hard as we can and in the end be an actual team that pumps each other up no matter what.
What motivates you?
I really have always motivated myself in everything that I do, not just tennis. I always work my hardest to be the best that I can be in school, on the court and in life.
What is the greatest part about being a student-athlete for The University of Alabama?
The greatest part about being a student-athlete here is all the support that we get. Behind each athlete is a group of people that are working their hardest and cheering
us on so that we can live out our dream and be the best that we can be.
What are some of your hobbies outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis I really like to read and listen to music. You can always either find a book in my hands or headphones in my ears.
What advice would you give to young tennis players?
Advice I would give to young tennis players is to always move forward. You're going to face some hard times in your life where nothing seems like it can go right, and you really want to quit. Always keep fighting and moving forward because you will come out stronger on the other side and everything that you go through is worth it in the end.
What do you plan to do with your tennis career after your career ends here at The University of Alabama?
After my career here I plan on not playing tennis anymore and pursuing my goal of becoming a physical therapist.
