NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional: Game One - Minnesota Beats Louisiana Tech, 11-3 in 5 Innings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.  – The Minnesota Golden Gophers (55-3-0) beat the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (37-23), 11-3 in five innings Friday to win game one of the 2017 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional being held at Rhoads Stadium this weekend.
The Gophers plated eight runs in the first two innings, starting off with three in the bottom of the first and five in the bottom of the second before adding three more in the bottom of the third. Louisiana Tech continued to battle to its last out, scoring one in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fifth.
Both teams used three pitchers in the run-rule shortened game with Amber Fiser taking the win for Minnesota, going to 14-0 on the season while Krystal De la Cruz took the loss, dropping to 13-4.
Minnesota returns to action Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of Friday's 4 p.m. Alabama-Albany game. Louisiana Tech faces the loser of tonight's contest in an elimination game Saturday at 4 p.m.
