Thibault Cancel Advances in USTA 25k Future

HOUSTON, Texas. – Alabama sophomores Alexey Nesterov and Thibault Cancel finished their first day in the Singles Qualifying Draw at the USTA 25k Future hosted by Rice University on Saturday in Houston, Texas.

Cancel came into the event as the No. 13 seed as he took care of Nicaise Muamba of Canada in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.

Nesterov fell to the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Fernando Bogajo of Spain, 6-3, 6-4.

Cancel will advance to Round Two of the tournament tomorrow against Gustavo De Oliveira Cruz of Brazil, with the time to be announced.
