Alabama Football Boasts 12 January Enrollees

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama announced Friday that 12 student-athletes have begun classes at the University and will be eligible to participate in spring practice with the Crimson Tide in 2017.
The January enrollees include offensive lineman Elliot Baker (San Francisco, Calif./City College of San Francisco), defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs (Ruston, La./E. Miss. CC), long snapper Thomas Fletcher (Georgetown, Texas/IMG Academy), running back Najee Harris (Antioch, Calif./Antioch), wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach), offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood (Pensacola, Fla./Washington), Kyriq McDonald (Madison, Ala./James Clemens), linebacker Dylan Moses (Baton Rouge, La./IMG Academy), wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (Lewisville, Texas/Lewisville), quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i/St. Louis), tight end Major Tennison (Flint, Texas/Bullard) and athlete Chadarius Townsend (Tanner, Ala./Tanner).Â
Among the 12 Crimson Tide January enrollees are five players who have earned a composite five-star ranking taking into consideration all of the major recruiting services. The group includes five more players who are four-star prospects by at least one recruiting outlet and one of the nation's best long snappers.
Harris in the No. 1 player in the Rivals 100, the Scout 300 and No. 3 in the 247Sports Composite. Tagovailoa is the nation's consensus No. 1 dual threat quarterback and Jeudy is the No. 3 wide receiver in the composite rankings. Leatherwood is No. 4 overall in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 1 offensive tackle by Rivals.com. Junior college transfers Buggs (DL) and Baker (OL) are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 respectively in the 247Sports Composite junior college rankings. Moses is the No. 1 outside linebacker by ESPN.com and Scout.com.
Shavers, another four-star prospect, gives the Tide another big target in the passing game along with Tennison. Townsend (ATH) and McDonald (DB) add two more four-star players to bolster the Tide's class along with Fletcher, who is the nation's No. 1 long snapper according to Scout.com.
