TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team worked out in full pads Wednesday afternoon during a two-hour practice on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
Wednesday's practice continued preparation for this weekend's home opener against Western Kentucky. The emphasis is on stopping a WKU offense that produced 649 yards of total offense last week. The Hilltoppers are led by Jeff Brohm, who is in his third season in Bowling Green. Brohm has a career record of 21-7 and has led WKU to back-to-back bowl victories and the 2015 Conference USA championship.
The Crimson Tide and Hilltoppers will meet for the third time in series history, with UA owning the 2-0 all-time advantage. Alabama won the initial meeting by a score of 41-7 in 2008 before shutting out WKU, 35-0, in 2012. Both games were played at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Alabama will return to work tomorrow afternoon and will wrap up the practice schedule on Friday. The Tide and Hilltoppers are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Bryant-Denny Stadium on ESPN2. Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht and Rocky Boiman will be on the call.
