Alabama Football Holds Final Pre-Academic Year Practice of 2016 Fall Camp

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team held its final practice of Fall Camp prior to the start of the academic year on Tuesday. The Tide practiced for two hours in full pads on the Thomas-Drew Practice Field on Tuesday afternoon. Earlier in the morning, the Crimson Tide had an FBS-leading seven players selected to CBS Sports 2016 Preseason All-America first and second teams.
The afternoon session began at 2:30 p.m. CT with the team getting in its final work before the start of classes on Wednesday. The practice was the team's 15th in a series of 28 leading up to the season opener with No. 17 Southern California in the AdvoCare Classic on Sept. 3. The Crimson Tide and Trojans will meet inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with the game airing on ABC at 7 p.m. CT.
Wednesday will mark the start of the 2016-17 academic year with the Tide beginning its in-season schedule. The team will take part in three consecutive 3:30 p.m. practices Wednesday, Thursday and Friday leading into the team's second scrimmage of Fall Camp on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Prior to practice, CBS Sports released its 2016 Preseason All-America Teams, with the Crimson Tide placing seven players on the two teams. Sophomore wide receiver Calvin Ridley, junior offensive lineman Cam Robinson, senior defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, senior linebacker Tim Williams and junior punter JK Scott were named to the first team. Senior tight end O.J. Howard and senior linebacker Reuben Foster were named to the second team.
