Alabama Rowing Sweeps Eastern Michigan in Spring Opener

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama rowing opened up its season on the Black Warrior River with a series of 1,000-meter races against Eastern Michigan Saturday morning on the Black Warrior River. The Tide took the top spot in each event.
"We had a solid team-wide performance today," Head Coach Larry Davis said. "Even though this is the earliest in the spring we've ever raced, our crews raced with spirit and composure. It was a good first step in the season."
Alabama's First Varsity 8 won all four of its races, posting its fastest time of the day in the fourth session with a time of 3.01.78. Session two saw the fastest time for the Tide's 2nd Varsity 8 with a time of 3.21.28. Alabama's Novice 8/3V8 posted its fastest time of the day with a 3.24.43 finish in session two. In total, seven Tide crews competed in 11 1000-meter races.
Up next, Alabama travels to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the Cardinal Invitational on March 12-13.
