Alabama Student-Athletes Slated To Receive Degrees Saturday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - More than 40 University of Alabama student-athletes are slated to receive their degrees Saturday when UA holds its winter commencement at 9 a.m. at Coleman Coliseum.
There will be 12 winter graduates on hand when the Crimson Tide football team competes in the BSC National Championship Game Monday, January 9, against LSU in New Orleans. That list includes: Undra Billingsley, Jerrell Harris, Robert Lester, John Michael Boswell, Marquis Maze, Brad Smelley, Christopher Jordan, Darius Hanks, Dont'a Hightower, De'Quan Menzie, Brandon Lewis and Brandon Gibson, who is receiving his master's degree.
Those 12 join Hardie Buck, Josh Chapman, Nick Gentry, Barrett Jones, Phelon Jones, Alfred McCullough, Morgan Ogilvie, Chris Underwood, William Vlachos and Alex Watkins, who all graduated prior to the start of the 2011 season, giving Alabama 22 graduates on its BCS Championship Game roster.
From the softball squad, Amanda Locke and Whitney Larsen are set to graduate, as are Joel Lynch, Megan Williams, Rachel Robbs, Audra Frimpong and Angelica Howard from the UA track team. From the soccer team, Victoria Frederick will receive her bachelor's degree while teammate Colleen Poseywill be receiving her master's degree.
Ashley Priess will be the first UA gymnast to earn her degree in less than four years and will finish her senior season while pursuing a master's degree. NCAA Today's Top VIII Award winner Kayla Hoffman, captain of last year's NCAA Championship team, also earned her degree this semester while gymnast Morgan Dennisearned her master's degree.
From the baseball team, Glenn Harbin will receive his undergraduate degree while David Kindred will receive his master's degree. Andrew Steele joins the ranks of men's basketball graduates while women's golfer Camilla Lennarth and vollyeball's Kayla Schmidtwill also take home their diplomas.
Men's tennis player Vikram Reddy will receive his bachelor's degree while women's tennis player Maria Muller receives her master's degree. Lauren Miller and Daniella Barone from the rowing team and swimmers Daniel Armstrong, Daniel Rozick and Paige Troyanwill all receive their undergraduate degrees this weekend.
Saturday's ceremonies will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived on UA's Web site, www.ua.edu, and will be available for viewing for approximately 30 days following the ceremony.
