Wednesday, April 16, 2003
The Alabama women’s cross country team has been awarded All-Academic Team, with Distinction honors on the strength of a 3.55 team grade point average, a total that was tops in the Southeastern Conference. “This is obviously something that we are very proud of,” cross country coach Steve Keith said. “These women have worked very hard both athletically and academically and it is great to see their efforts recognized in this fashion.” Freshman Nicole Abram, freshman Meghan Bates, sophomore Tricia Bohan, freshman Blair Davis, freshman Emily Green, junior Virnetta Greene, senior Katie Kelly, senior Ashley LaBudde, freshman Jaclyn Louis, junior Kara Nowak, and sophomore Ashley Roberts all contributed to the Tide’s high water mark in the classroom. In addition to being the best in the SEC, The Crimson Tide’s 3.55 GPA was 17th in the nation. This marks the second consecutive year that Alabama has earned the All-Academic accolade. This year the Tide added “with Distinction” to the honor, which indicates the team’s GPA was above a 3.25 overall. |
